The holding Nursery at New England Botanic Garden at Tower hill is crucial to the yearly plantings at the garden. This is the holding area for all incoming plants for the season as they get installed throughout the year. Up until 2024, this nursery was years of built up woodchip with no direct access path to easily move plant material through the space. In 2023 Myself and colleagues rebuilt this nursery entirely to fit the growing operation. I Bulldozed a new path into the space to install a crushed gravel through driveway, as well as graded the entire nursery to prepare for the installation of landscape fabric. I also installed irrigation throughout the space to make it easier to maintain. The nursery is now easier to use than it ever was, and future plans are to renovate the preexisting cold frames for enhanced seed starting and bulb forcing.
