One of the first major accomplishments I achieved in my time at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill was a total rehaul of the horticulture barn. When I started in 2017, the 40’x100’ barn had acquired years of clutter and was hard to maneuver around, let alone service equipment, and support our horticultural operation. After 6, 30yd dumpsters and multiple visits to other successful operations I began rebuilding the barn to suite the needs of our department in terms of storage, locations to park and charge our large fleet of battery powered utility carts and tools, as well as managing the newly renovated yard space outside of the building to store all of our heavy equipment, and bulk material storage. After years of work, the barn is now a large space that is easily modular, it allows us to storage our fleet of vehicles and tool, as well as shift equipment to accommodate for large exhibition builds, or accommodating additional equipment. The organizational system I have create has been utilized by multiple other colleagues in the industry to accommodate their operations as well.
