What I call the “Dump Pile Meadow” was a section of property that contained 100’s of yards of waste fill, mulch, woodchips compost and essentially any of the waste generated from construction project at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill for a time. We wanted to find a way to utilize this material, so I found a way to grade this large volume of material out into a rolling hill meadow which was then top-dressed with a layer of loam for seeding and then hydroseeded using a seed mix heavily focused on degraded soils. This meadow had great germination in its first season and really does not show any evidence of the waste material piles that used to be present in the area.
